3. Young people enjoy life more than older people
나이든 사람들보다 젊은 사람들이 인생을 더 즐긴다.

Some people think that they will be happier when they get older. However, in my opinion, young people enjoy their lives much more than older people do. This is because young people are more energetic and have fewer responsibilities.​

일부사람들은 그들이 나이가 들면 더 행복해질 거라고 생각한다. 그러나, 내 생각에, 젊은 사람들은 나이 든 사라보다 인생을 더 많이 즐긴다. 그 이유는 젊은 사람들이 원기 왕성하고 책임질 것이 적기 때문이다.​

To begin with, young people have more opportunities to enjoy their lives because they have so much energy. This gives them a wider range of options in comparison to older people, and these various options offer many more ways to find happiness. That is, unless you are vigorous, it is hard to enjoy life to its fullest. For example, my grandfather was a man of great physical strength and used to love hiking in the mountains when he was younger. Although he has much more leisure time after his retirement, he cannot pursue physically demanding activities now. He always misses the days when he went on hiking trips to the Himalayas in Nepal, and he always strongly encourages me to fulfill whatever dream I have while I am still young and healthy.

​우선, 젊은 사람들은 원기가 왕성하기 때문에 인생을 즐길 기회를 더 많이 갖게 된다. 이것은 나이 든 사람들에 비해 보다 넓은 범위의 선택을 제공하며, 이 다양한 선택은 행복을 찾을 수 있는 많은 방법을 제시한다. 즉, 건강하지 않다면 인생을 완전히 즐기기는 어렵다. 예를 들어, 나의 할아버지께서는 젊은 시절에 대단한 체력의 소유자셨고 더 젊으셨을 때는 등산하는 것을 즐기곤 하셨다. 비록 퇴직 후에 더 많은 여가를 누리시기는 하지만, 지금은 육체적으로 힘든 활동을 계속 하실 수 없다. 할아버지께서는 항상 네팔의 히말라야 산맥으로 원정 등반 가셨던 시절을 그리워하시고, 나에게 아직 젊고 건강할 때 내가 가진 소망들을 실현시키라고 강하게 격려하신다.

​On top of that, young people are happier because they have fewer things to be accountable for. As people age, responsibilities become greater and greater. Adults have children to raise and jobs to maintain. These duties restrict the actions they can do and thus limit how much they can enjoy life. Conversely, young people have fewer obligations and are free to pursue any endeavor that interests them. For instance, my eldest brother who is married with kids has never taken a whole week off since he started his own business. He cannot enjoy his free time as much as he did when he was my age. I, on the other hand, can take a trip whenever I want to, because I am still a student and single. He envied m so much when I took a trip to Europe for two months last summer.

​게다가, 젊은 사람들은 그들이 돌봐야 하는 일들이 적기 때문에 더 행복하다. 사람들이 나이가 들어감에 따라 책임져야 할 일들은 계속 늘어나기 마련이다. 어른들은 자녀를 양육하고 직업을 유지해야 한다. 이러한 의무들은 그들이 할 수 있는 행동을 제한하고 따라서 결국 얼마만큼 인생을 즐길 수 있는가를 제한하게 된다. 반면에, 젊은 사람들은 의무가 상대적으로 적고 자유롭게 그들이 좋아하는 것에 노력을 쏟을 수 있다. 예를 들어, 결혼해서 두 자녀를 둔 나의 큰 오빠는 사업을 시작한 이후로 일주일을 통째로 쉬어 본 적이 없다. 오빠는 오빠가 내 나이였을 때만큼 자유 시간을 누릴 수 없다. 반면에, 나는 아직 학생 신분이고 미혼이기 때문에 내가 원할 때면 언제든지 여행을 떠날 수 있다. 오빠는 내가 작년 여름 두 달간 유럽으로 여행을 떠났을 때 나를 매우 부러워했다.

​To sum up, young people's vigor and lack of obligations lead to their greater enjoyment of life. In this regard, I believe that young people have the freedom and opportunity to enjoy life more than people who are older.

​요약하자면, 젊은 사람들이 육체적으로 건강하고 의무가 적다는 것이 그들을 더 큰 인생의 즐거움으로 인도해 준다. 이러한 점에서, 나는 젊은 사람들이 나이 든 사람보다 인생을 즐길 자유와 기회를 더 갖는다고 생각한다.
